Guidance: To help you understand the steps you need to take to complete the vocational part of training to become a solicitor.

Glossary terms

Legal Practice Course

means a course provided by an authorised education provider which meets the prescribed requirements

SRA

means the Solicitors Regulation Authority

authorised education provider

means a provider recognised by the SRA as providing the Legal Practice Course or the Professional Skills Course

vocational stage of training

means:

  1. the Legal Practice Course;
  2. a required period of recognised training; and
  3. the Professional Skills Course.
period of recognised training

means training required under the SRA Authorisation of Individuals Regulations
