Breakdown of routes to admission

The numbers of solicitors being admitted to the roll in England and Wales has increased.

The table below provides a breakdown of those admitted in the 12 months to end of August 2021 and the 12 months to end of August 2020 by their routes to qualification.

In the 12 months to end of August 2021, 81% of new solicitors took the Period of recognised training followed by Legal Practice Course route. The second most popular route was to take the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme.
