SRA Board welcomes new members
10 January 2019
Our Board has welcomed two new members. Selina Ullah and Peter Higson take up their places this month.
Anna Bradley, Chair of the SRA Board, said: "I am delighted that after an open and competitive recruitment process, Selina and Peter are joining us. They both bring a wide range of experience and expertise to our Board.
"We look forward to working with them as we deliver our reforms, maintaining high professional standards and public protection while removing constraints on the provision of accessible, affordable legal services.”
Selina Ullah is an experienced non-executive with more than 25 years' board experience. She has been a board member of the General Optical Council for seven years and a board member of a large NHS hospital trust, as well as chairing a number of charities. Her executive experience includes healthcare management and local government.
Peter Higson is the chair of Cartfefi Cymru, which provides support to people with learning disabilities in Wales, and is a member of Bangor University Council. Past appointments include chair of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board for five years, lay member of the Wales Committee of the Law Society, and Mental Health Act Commissioner. Peter has held director/chief executive positions in the NHS, education and the civil service, including as the first chief executive of Healthcare Inspectorate Wales.
