Supporting disability at work in law firms

One of our objectives as a regulator is to encourage an independent, strong, diverse and effective legal profession.
Your firm should have recently returned information on a wide range of diversity data to us as part of the information we collect to monitor trends among solicitors in England and Wales. We know, however, that disability status is under reported across law firms as part of this data collection. Only three per cent of solicitors declare they have a disability, compared to ten per cent of the working age population.
Our disability in the workplace campaign aims to bring awareness of the importance of disability inclusion in law firms. By bringing disability to the forefront of people’s minds, our new campaign aims to foster a good working environment - helping firms to realise the benefits disabled people bring to their business.
