Get involved with the Innovation Sandbox

We are supporting the work programme of Tech Nation to encourage innovation in the legal sector.
This will include the development of a new Lawtech Sandbox – a development and testing environment encouraging partners to come together and establish new ways of delivering services. The initiative is funded by £2 million from the Ministry of Justice, with the Legal Services Board, Information Commissioner’s Office and others joining us.
Anna Bradley, Chair of our Board, said: “Currently too many small businesses struggle to get expert legal help – fewer than one in four get professional advice when they need it. That can be the difference between a successful or failing business.
“Technology could be a game changer for legal services. Working together on initiatives like this will help make sure regulation facilitates new developments that will benefit society and the economy.”
Investment in legal technology has tripled in the last two years, with 4,500 people employed to handle £290 million of funding. We launched our own SRA Innovate initiative in March 2016 which includes allowing pioneers to test new ways of working without falling foul of regulations if doing so doesn’t harm the public interest.
