The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) regulates more than 100,000 solicitors in England and Wales, as well as registered European and foreign lawyers.

Established in January 2007, we are the independent regulatory body of the Law Society of England and Wales.

Accounts Rules changes

The Solicitors' Accounts Rules 1998 were amended on 14 July 2008 to introduce specific obligations for the prompt return of surplus client funds and reporting to clients if funds are retained.
