Warning: Website for 'Richard Dadson Solicitors' claiming to be an SRA Regulated law firm

9 December 2022

The website at 'www.richarddadsonsolicitors.com' is operating falsely claiming to be an SRA Regulated law firm called ‘Richard Dadson Solicitors’.

What is the scam?

The website 'www.richarddadsonsolicitors.com' is operating and falsely claiming to be an SRA Regulated law firm called 'Richard Dadson Solicitors'. The website claims to have offices in London, New York, Hamburg, Dublin, Beijing, and Pretoria and appears to have an SRA digital badge that includes a link to verify the website; however the link does not work.

The website provides a head office address of '2nd Floor, Salisbury House, London Wall, EC2M 5SQ'. It also provides an email address of 'info@richarddadsonsolicitors.com' and 'richarddadson@rdlegalsolicitors.com'.

The 'Meet the Team' section on the website misuses the names and photographs of genuine solicitors. The website 'www.richarddadsonsolicitors.com' is a clone of a website for a genuine firm of solicitors (see below) and includes out of date information for the genuine firm.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm of solicitors called 'Richard Dadson Solicitors' or a solicitor called 'Richard Dadson'.

Any business or transaction through 'Richard Dadson', 'Richard Dadson Solicitors', the website 'www.richarddadsonsolicitors.com' and the email addresses 'info@richarddadsonsolicitors.com' and 'richarddadson@rdlegalsolicitors.com' is not undertaken by an individual or solicitors' practice authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a firm called Crown Law Solicitors LLP whose head office is based at 16 Crown Lane, Morden, SM4 5BP. Crown Law Solicitors LLP’s genuine website is www.crownlawsolicitors.com.

The genuine email address for the firm is enquiries@crownlawsolicitors.com. Crown Law Solicitors LLP has confirmed that the firm and its solicitors, whose photographs and names are being misused on the website ‘www.richarddadsonsolicitors.com’, have no connection to the website referred to in the above warning.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
