The website 'www.gregsonslawllp.com' is operating claiming to be a law firm.

What is the scam?

The website 'www.gregsonslawllp.com' is operating falsely claiming to be a law firm called 'Gregsons Partners LLP' or 'Gregsons LLP'.

The websites provide a telephone number of '+44-744-144-6087' and an email address of 'info@gregsonslawllp.com'.

Members of the public have also received a letter from an individual called 'Edward Gregsons' claiming to be a partner in 'Gregsons Partners LLP' in relation to a supposed unclaimed 'permanent life insurance policy' of a client with the same surname as the recipient.

The letter provides the above contact details as well as email addresses of 'gregson@gregsonlawllp.com' and 'gregsonpllp@gmail.com'.

The SRA does not authorise and regulate a solicitor called 'Edward Gregsons' or a firm of solicitors called 'Gregsons Partners LLP'. (See below genuine firm with similar name).

The website misuses the postal address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

Any business or transaction through a firm called 'Gregsons Partners LLP' or any of the contact details above are not undertaken by a solicitors' practice or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Gregsons trading as Gregsons Solicitors based at 11 Regent Street Nottingham NG1 5BS. The telephone number is (0115) 94 11 999. The email domain for the firm is @gregsons-solicitors-nottingham.co.uk.

Gregsons has confirmed they do not have any connection to the website or letter above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
