Warning: Website claiming to be a law firm called 'Walton Law Partners'

A website at 'www.waltonlawpartners.com' is operating which falsely names eight solicitors.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen a website of 'Walton Law Partners', whose address is above, which claims to be for a law firm.

The website provides the email addresses:

The telephone and fax numbers '+44-1224 346700/ +44-7862 068507' and '+96878136549'.

The website also provides addresses in the UK and United Arab Emirates.

The UK address is '4 Langdale Road, Thornton Heath, CR7 7PP, United Kingdom'.

It also lists the names 'Linda Harris', 'Thomas Hunter', 'Kenneth Gordon', 'Jude Hamilton', 'Edward Steven Evans', 'Chloe Trippick', and 'Stephen Khulani'.

Any business or transactions through a firm called 'Walton Law Partners', website or email addresses listed above, or individuals called 'Linda Harris', 'Kenneth Gordon', 'Jude Hamilton', 'Edward Steven Evans', 'Chloe Trippick', and 'Stephen Khulani' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates genuine solicitors called Thomas Hunter who have confirmed they have no connection to the website referred to above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
