This is for a solicitor or registered European lawyer (REL) who wish to exercise their right to represent clients as a criminal or a civil advocate, or both, in higher courts in England and Wales. See full guidance and details about the scheme.

Make sure you have read the full regulations which set out the education and training requirements for those seeking to exercise higher rights of audience.

You will need to have already completed and passed the advocacy assessment(s) to apply. You will need to upload a copy of your certificate(s) as part of your application.

This application is £75. You can pay by credit or debit card at the end of this application.

If you are a REL and EU/EEA or Swiss national who has qualified in an EU jurisdiction, you meet the requirements of Directive 2005/36 (Recognition of Professional Qualifications) and are eligible to apply under Regulation 9.10(a). You will need to contact us to apply. As part of the application, you will also need to complete an Assessment Table.
