Ban on referral fees in personal injury cases

A ban on the payment of referral fees in personal injury cases was introduced by the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (LASPO) on 1 April 2013.

Regulated persons should be able to determine from LASPO itself the arrangements which will be prohibited and the risks associated with entering into referral arrangements.

However, we have produced our own interpretation and analysis of the relevant provisions of LASPO and how these might affect various kinds of arrangements.
