SRA starts search for new Board Chair

We have begun the search for a new Chair for our Board, who will be responsible for overseeing our work driving confidence and trust in legal services.

The new Chair, who will take up their post in January 2025, will lead the our Board in its role providing strategic direction and oversight for us as we regulate more than 160,000 practising solicitors and 9,000 firms across England and Wales.

Under our rules the chair position must be held by a lay member – someone who is not a solicitor – and will lead a wider Board consisting of five lay and four solicitor members.

As well as continuing to lead on the delivery of our existing Corporate Strategy, for 2023-2026, the Chair and Board will also play a leading role in considering how we respond to the ever-changing demands of the legal sector in devising and delivering our next 2026-2029 strategy.

The Chair recruitment process is being handled by specialist agency Odgers and Berndston. More information on the position is available on the Odgers and Berndtson website. The closing date is noon on Monday 13 May, 2024.
