Warning: Email misusing the name of the Solicitors Regulation Authority
31 January 2022
An email has been sent misusing the name of the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
What is the scam?
We have seen a copy of an email, purporting to be from the Solicitors Regulation Authority, that was recently sent to a solicitor of England and Wales.
The email was sent on 14 January 2022 from the address positivepromotions @e.positivepromotions.com. The SRA does not use, nor has it ever used, the domain name positivepromotions.com.
The email refers to a 'missing document', suggests the recipient's 'License' may be revoked by the SRA and invites the recipient to open an attachment.
The example we have seen does not include an SRA logo.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
