Warning: Emails misusing the name of Cameron Jones Hussell & Howe Solicitors

Emails have been sent falsely claiming to be from ‘Rose Thomas’ of Cameron Jones Hussell & Howe Solicitors in relation to conveyancing matters.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that members of the public have received email correspondence from an individual falsely purporting to be 'Rose Thomas' of Cameron Jones Hussell & Howe Solicitors in relation to conveyancing matters.
The SRA understands that the emails requested members of the public to transfer funds in relation to their conveyancing matter.
The email was sent using the email address of 'rthomas@ccjhh.com'.
The SRA does authorise and regulate a firm called Cameron Jones Hussell & Howe Ltd.
The emails seen by the SRA misuse the telephone number and fax number of the genuine firm (see below).
The emails purporting to be the firm are still ongoing using the email address of 'ccjhh.com'.
Any business or transactions through the email address of rthomas@ccjhh.com, telephone numbers of 01639 885061 and 01702 964109, and fax number of 01639 880468 is not undertaken by a solicitors' practice or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
Cameron Jones Hussell & Howe Ltd is a genuine law firm authorised and regulated by the SRA. Rosemary Thomas known as Rose Thomas is an employee at the genuine law firm.
Cameron Jones Hussell & Howe Ltd uses a trading name of Cameron Jones Hussell & Howe Solicitors.
The genuine firm of Cameron Jones Hussell & Howe Solicitors uses the email domain names 'cjhh.com'.
The genuine firm's website is cjhhsolicitors.com.
Cameron Jones Hussell & Howe Solicitors has confirmed that it has no connection to the email correspondences referred to above.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (eg telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
