The website at 'www.millichamplegal.com' is falsely claiming to be a law firm called 'Millichamp Legal Consultancy'.
What is the scam?
The website at 'www.millichamplegal.com' is falsely claiming to be a law firm called 'Millichamp Legal Consultancy'.
The SRA understands that a member of public was contacted by an individual claiming to be from 'Millichamp Legal' in relation to a supposed claim for inheritance.
The SRA does not authorise and regulate a law firm called 'Millichamp Legal' or 'Millichamp Legal Consultancy'. The website misuses the photographs of employees of genuine firms (see below).
The website provides the email address of 'Mlegalconsultancyuk@aol.com', a telephone number of '+44-745-122-345' and a postal address of 14 Bridewell Pl, New Bridge St, London EC4V 6AG'.
Any business or transaction through 'Millichamp Legal', 'Millichamp Legal Consultancy' or the website and contact details above are not undertaken by a solicitors' practice or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Healys LLP, whose head office is at Atrium Court 15-17 Jockey's Fields London WC1R 4QR.
On the website referred to above, the photographs claiming to be 'Kristy Millichamp', 'Debra Taylor' and 'Steve Davies' misuse the photographs of Jane Baker, Karen Lord and Paul Barnes, who are all genuine partners or employees of Healys LLP
The SRA also authorises and regulates the genuine firm of solicitors called Saunders and Partners LLP (trading as Saunders Law), whose head office is at Temple Chambers, 3-7 Temple Avenue, London, EC4Y 0DT.
On the website referred to above, the photographs claiming to be 'Lyle Evans' and 'Teresa Mcmahon' misuse the photographs of the genuine James Saunders and Nia Williams of Saunders and Partners LLP.
The genuine Healys LLP and Saunders and Partners LLP have confirmed that neither they nor any of the genuine solicitors or staff whose photographs are misused have any connection with the website referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
