Apply for temporary emergency authorisation for sole practitioner
What is this application for?
A solicitor or Registered European Lawyer (REL) seeking emergency authorisation following the death or incapacity of a sole practitioner in an existing recognised sole practice.
The solicitor or REL must be:
- the sole practitioner's executor;
- a practice manager appointed by the sole practitioner's personal representatives; or
- an employee of the existing recognised sole practice.

Help with your application
You will need to notify us of the death or incapacity, within seven days of it occurring and submit the application within 28 days.

How to apply
You need to complete a FA7 - Death or incapacity of a sole practitioner - application for temporary emergency authorisation.
The forms are editable PDF's and must be completed electronically. You must save a copy of the form to your computer before you start to fill it in. These forms are not compatible with Mac computers.
Send your application to the email address on the form. Please include "temporary emergency authorisation" in the subject line.
There is no fee for this application.
What you can expect from us
