In-house solicitors needed to help shape our work

News

We carried out a thematic review on those working in-house to look at the experiences and challenges of the sector.

We did identify some areas of concern where those we regulate thought guidance would be of help. We are now developing these resources and want input from the sector to make sure these are as helpful and practical as possible. Our resources also need to reflect the diversity of the in-house solicitor profession – across varying levels of seniority and across different sectors. We are therefore establishing a virtual reference group to help us with this work.

The group will have the opportunity to share technical knowledge and expertise as well as practical examples of what works well and what does not. We will also be developing case studies. We want to publish the resources in the autumn, so will be working with the group in three virtual meetings and via emails and surveys throughout July and August.

The subjects we'll be working on are:

  1. Guidance for employers of in-house solicitors
  2. Identifying the client and managing conflicts and confidentiality risks
  3. Internal investigations
  4. Reporting client wrongdoing

To register your interest, please do so by emailing us.

We will review all expressions of interest received by mid-July and get back to all respondents shortly after that with more detail on next steps.
