Reeds Solicitors Ltd have been granted permission under Section 43 of the Solicitors Act 1974 to employ Mr Damon James Whitlow, subject to the following conditions:

1. Any changes to Mr Whitlow's role, responsibilities and/or supervisory arrangements, as outlined in the Section 43 questionnaire completed by Mr Matthews dated 22 July 2016 and his email dated 5 August 2016, must be notified to the SRA in advance of the change taking place. No changes should take place until permission is granted by the SRA;
2. Mr Whitlow will not be responsible for the application of legal aid in any way;
3. The permission and conditions are subject to review at the absolute discretion of the SRA.

Reasons/basis

Mr Whitlow was made subject to an order under Section 43 of the Solicitors Act 1974 on 1 October 2004.

In accordance with Section 43 of the Solicitors Act 1974, any solicitor wishing to employ or remunerate him in connection with their practise as a solicitor must obtain the SRA’s approval. The SRA is satisfied that the above employment will not put public confidence in the administration of justice and the provision of legal services or the interests of clients at risk.
