Warning: Emails misusing the name of Addleshaw Goddard LLP

Emails have been sent purporting to be from Addleshaw Goddard LLP requesting the recipient to view a link.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been advised that emails have been sent from the email domain 'addleshavvgoddard.com' (note the two 'v's') advising the recipient to view a link to access a file. We are advised that the link directs to a website which requires log in details to be entered by the recipient. The concern is that the link or the website may contain malware.
Any business or transaction through the email domain 'addleshavvgoddard.com' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a firm of solicitors called Addleshaw Goddard LLP whose head office is based at Milton Gate, 60 Chiswell Street, London EC1Y 4AG. The firm's genuine email domain ends with @addleshawgoddard.com (note the 'w').
The genuine firm of Addleshaw Goddard LLP has confirmed that it has no connection to the email domain 'addleshavvgoddard.com'.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
