Warning: Correspondence and website misusing the name of ‘NH Solicitors’

2 August 2023

Correspondence has been sent regarding an ‘unclaimed permanent life insurance policy’ misusing the name of ‘NH Solicitors’.

What is the scam?

Correspondence has been sent falsely claiming to be from a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

The document seen by the SRA falsely claims to be from ‘NH Solicitors’ and refers to an unclaimed ‘permanent life insurance policy’.

The document provides the telephone number of ‘+44 746 671 5685’, a fax number of ‘+44 177 535 0058’ and email addresses of ‘info@nhsolicitors.com’, ‘nazir@nhsolicitors.com’ and ‘nazirhussainesq@gmail.com’.  It also refers to a website of ‘www.nhsolicitors.com’ and a postal address of in Walsall, WS2 8DG.

Any business or transactions through the telephone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses and website above are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Naz Hussain Solicitors, which uses the trading name N H Solicitors.

Until the end of March 2023, the genuine firm’s registered address was 29A Stafford Street, Walsall, WS2 8DG, but it is now based at 3H2 Townend House, Wisemore, Walsall, WS1 1NS. The firm’s telephone number is 07930309100 and the email address used by the firm is nhussain.1@hotmail.com.

The SRA also authorises and regulates a solicitor called Nazir Hussain who is the owner of the Naz Hussain Solicitors.

The genuine Nazir Hussain of Naz Hussain Solicitors has confirmed that his firm does not have a website and that neither the firm nor Nazir Hussain have any connection to the correspondence referred to above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
