The website 'www.solicitors-funding.com' is operating falsely claiming to be for a law firm.
What is the scam?
The website 'www.solicitors-funding.com' is operating falsely claiming to be for a law firm called 'Solicitors Funding Limited Partnership'.
The website provides the telephone number '020 3807 6939' and email address admin@solicitors-funding.com. It also provides the address for a genuine firm of solicitors (see below). This website also previously misused the name and SRA ID of a genuine firm (see below), and falsely claimed to have been a subsidiary of that genuine firm.
The website lists the following individuals as 'solicitors'; Jefferson Leveston, Jason Watson, Dorothy Usman, Natalie Gruzmninko, Jorge Horgos, Mitchell Walker and Marcia Karabou. The website also includes the name of two genuine solicitors (see below).
The SRA does not regulate a firm called Solicitors Funding Limited Partnership, nor does it authorise or regulate individuals called Jefferson Leveston, Jason Watson, Dorothy Usman, Natalie Gruzmninko, Jorge Horgos, Mitchell Walker and Marcia Karabou.
Any business or transactions through a firm called Solicitors Funding Limited Partnership, the telephone number or email address listed above, or individuals called Jason Watson, Natalie Gruzmninko, Jorge Horgos, Mitchell Walker and Marcia Karabou is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Barnett Alexander Conway Ingram LLP whose address is Sovereign House, 1 Albert Place Ballards Lane, London, N31QB. Its telephone number is 020 8349 7680.
The SRA also authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called DLA Piper UK LLP whose SRA number is 401322. The genuine firm DLA Piper UK LLP has confirmed that it has never had a subsidiary as claimed in the above alert
The SRA also authorises and regulates genuine solicitors called Sarah Conor and Hayley Carson.
The genuine firms of Barnett Alexander Conway Ingram LLP and DLA Piper UK LLP have confirmed they have no connection to the website referred to be above.
The genuine solicitors called Sarah Conor and Hayley Carson are also not believed to have any connection to the website referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
