Emails have been sent misusing the name of Streeter Marshall LLP in relation to conveyancing matters.

What is the scam?

Emails have been sent misusing the name of Streeter Marshall LLP in relation to conveyancing matters.

The emails asked the recipient to send deposit monies to an alternative bank account.

The emails were sent from the domain '@streetersmarshall.com' (with an extra 's') and misuse the details of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

Any business or transaction through the email address '@streetersmarshall.com' is not undertaken by a solicitors' practice or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Streeter Marshall LLP. Its head office address is 74 High Street, Croydon, CR9 2UU. The genuine firm uses emails with the domain '@streetermarshall.com'.

The genuine firm of Streeter Marshall LLP has confirmed it does not have any connection to the emails using the domain '@streetersmarshall.com' (with an extra 's').

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary.
