Warning: Emails and telephone calls misusing the name TLW Solicitors Limited

An email has been sent to a member of the public falsely claiming to be from TLW Solicitors Limited.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been advised that an email purporting to be from ‘TLW Solicitors Limited’ has been sent to a member of the public. The recipient of the email stated that the email was sent to prove that the sender was a legitimate solicitor.
The SRA has been further advised that following receipt of the email, telephone calls were made from an individual using telephone number +3197010240941. The individual said they were a solicitor offering to recover funds that had been taken in a previous scam. The recipient was asked to download an app called Coin Wallet and share her screen with the caller. She was asked to place around £1000 into the coin wallet.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a firm of solicitors called TLW Solicitors Limited.
The genuine firm’s telephone number is 01912931500. The firm’s genuine email domain ends with @tlwsolicitors.co.uk and its website address is www.tlwsolicitors.co.uk
The firm have confirmed they have no connection with the email or Coin Wallet.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
