Luminary Solicitors is claiming to be a firm of solicitors in Beckenham, Greater London.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that a member of the public has received an email from Luminary Solicitors. It is understood that the content of the email stated that they may be an heir to an estate. The email contained what is believed to be a fraudulent death certificate and Power of Attorney.

A website www.luminarysolicitors.com is operating. The website provides a postal address of Flat 6, Aldwych Court, 33 The Avenue, Beckenham, England BR3 5DR with a telephone number of +44 7440 189039.

The website details Louis Smith, Roberts Kevin and Simon Reuben as being partners at the firm.

The SRA does not regulate or authorise the above persons or a firm of solicitors called Luminary Law.

Any business transaction through the above contact details is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
