What is the scam?
The website 'www.prlawchamber.com' is operating falsely claiming to be for a law firm called 'P & R Law Chambers'.
The website for 'P & R Law Chambers' misuses the layout of a website for a genuine firm of solicitors and its SRA number (see below).
The website provides the email address 'info@prlawchamber.com' and an address in London from which a number of genuine firms of solicitors operate (see below).
It also provides the names of 'Gabrila-Kocurek', 'Mark SR Richards', 'Karolina Suchon', and 'Peter Mariusz'.
Any business or transactions through a firm called 'P & R Law Chambers', website or email address listed above, or individuals called 'Gabrila-Kocurek', 'Mark SR Richards', 'Karolina Suchon', and 'Peter Mariusz' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm or solicitors called Onyx Solicitors Limited whose address is 209A Streetly Road, Birmingham, B23 7AH. Its SRA number is 468942 and its genuine website is www.onyxsolicitors.com. The email domain used by the firm is '@onyxsolicitors.com'.
The SRA authorises and regulates a number of genuine solicitors called Mark Richards, none of whom are believed to be connected with the website referred to in the above alert. The SRA also authorises a number of firms of solicitors which operate from 1 Canada Square, London, E14 5AA, none of which are believed to have any connection to the website referred to in the above website.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
