Warning: Communications misusing the names of Isabelle Innes-Taylor, Ana Lelliott and Gowling WLG (UK) LLP and Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP

Emails, Whats app messages and Telegram messages have been sent misusing the names of Isabelle Innes-Taylor, Ana Lelliott, Gowling WLG (UK) LLP and Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP.

What is the scam?

Emails, Whats app messages and Telegram messages have been sent misusing the names of Isabelle Innes-Taylor, Ana Lelliott, Gowling WLG (UK) LLP and Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP (together 'Gowling WLG'). The emails purport to be from employees of Gowling WLG in Spain and purport to offer legal services to recover lost money. The genuine firm Gowling WLG do not have offices or employees operating in Spain. 

Emails have been sent purporting to be from 'Isabelle Innes Taylor Reyna', from the email addresses isabel.reyna@gowling.es and isabel.reyna@gowling.esGowlingWLG. The emails provided a mobile telephone number of +44 7378 268954 and the telephone number for Telegram of +44 7475 205856. The emails have misused the name and Linkedin photo of a genuine solicitor (see below).

Emails have also been sent purporting to be from 'Ana Lelliot Lopez' from the email address ana.lopez@gowling.es. The emails provided the telephone number of +44 7380 215881.The emails have misused the name of a genuine solicitor (see below).

Emails, Whats app messages and Telegram messages have been sent purporting to be from 'Eva Maria Rodriguez Serrano'. A fraudulent contract was attached to one of the emails. A fraudulent certificate was provided in one of the Telegram messages. The emails were sent from eva.rodriguez@gowling.eu and the emails provided the mobile number of 34930302751 and the Whats app number of 447311722239.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor called 'Eva Maria Rodriguez Serrano'.

Emails have also been sent purporting to be from 'Gabriela Vega' from the email address gabriela.vega@gowling.es. The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor called 'Gabriela Vega'.

Telegram messages have also been sent purporting to be from 'Tomas Ortega Novak'. The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor called 'Tomas Ortega Novak'.

All of the above communications have misused the name of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

Any business or transactions through 'Isabelle Innes-Taylor Reyna', 'Ana Lelliot Lopez', 'Eva Maria Rodriguez Serrano', 'Gabriela Vega' or 'Tomas Ortega Novak' are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Any business or transactions through the email addresses of isabel.reyna@gowling.es, isabel.reyna@gowling.esGowlingWLG, ana.lopez@gowling.es, eva.rodriguez@gowling.eu or gabriela.vega@gowling.es are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Any business or transactions through the numbers +44 7378 268954, +44 7475 205856, +447380215881, 34930302751 or 447311722239 are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm or solicitors called Gowling WLG. The genuine firm's email domain ends in '@gowlingwlg.com and @uk.gowlingwlg.com'.

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Isabelle Innes-Taylor who is a solicitor at the genuine firm of Gowling WLG. Her genuine email addresses are Isabelle.innes-taylor@uk.gowlingwlg.com and Isabelle.innes-taylor@gowlingwlg.com

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Ana Lelliott who is a solicitor at the genuine firm of Gowling WLG. Her genuine email addresses are ana.lelliott@gowlingwlg.com and ana.lelliott@uk.gowlingwlg.com

The genuine firm has confirmed it does not employ individuals called 'Isabelle Innes-Taylor Reyna', 'Ana Lelliot Lopez', 'Eva Maria Rodriguez Serrano', 'Gabriela Vega' or 'Tomas Ortega Novak'.

The genuine solicitors, Isabelle Innes-Taylor and Ana Lelliott, have confirmed that they have no connection to the alert above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
