Warning: Trademark emails misusing the name of Dickson Minto LLP

Emails have been sent misusing the name Dickson Minto LLP in connection with purported trademark ownership.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that emails have been sent misusing the name of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).
The emails seen by the SRA purport to be from 'Peter Arch' of 'Prestige Marks' and 'Jamie Seedhouse' of 'Dickson Minto LLC'.
The emails inform the recipient that a third party has approached the sender to register the UK brand name of the recipient's business, seeking exclusive rights to their brand name. The email invites the recipient to secure trademark registration of their brand name first and offers to assist with this process.
The email from 'Prestige Marks' also states that 'Dickson Minto LLC' is their parent company and that 'Prestige Marks operates as a DBA (Doing Business As) under the group structure'.
The emails were sent from email addresses 'peter.arch@prestigemarks.co.uk' and 'jamie.seedhouse@dicksonsllp.co.uk'.
The email signatures quote the telephone number '07830 756 5607', the websites 'www.trademarksfilers.co.uk' and 'www.dicksonllp.co.uk' and the address '76 Corporation Street Birmingham, B2 5LS, UK'. The email signatures also quote a 'Law Society number of 563760'.
Both the 'www.trademarksfilers.co.uk' and 'www.dicksonllp.co.uk' websites now appear to have been taken down.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a genuine firm of Solicitors with the name 'Dickson Minto LLC' or a genuine solicitor with the name 'Peter Arch'.
Any business or transaction through the email addresses telephone number or website as noted above are not undertaken by any individual or firm authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Dickson Minto LLP. The SRA number for the genuine firm is 8011459.
The genuine firm of solicitors has confirmed that they employ a Scottish Solicitor named Jamie Seedhouse but have no connection to the correspondence and contact details referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
