Reasons/basis

This notification relates to a Decision to bring disciplinary proceedings before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.  This is an independent Tribunal which will reach its own decision after considering all the evidence, including any evidence put forward by the Solicitor.  The Tribunal has certified that there is a case to answer in respect of allegations which are or include that:

On or around 20 to 21 December 2023, Ms Halewood made changes to the witness statement of Miss B, and submitted the amended witness statement to the Family Court, without:

1.1.1 Informing Miss B that she had made changes to her witness statement.

1.1.2 Asking Miss B to consider the proposed changes and make any amendments that Miss B wanted, including amending the wording to use Ms Halewood's own words.

1.1.3 Obtaining express confirmation from Miss B that she approved the changes that had been made and/or that she had sufficient time to make any amendments to the witness statement.

1.1.4    Notifying the court that the witness statement that Ms Halewood had submitted had not been seen or approved by Miss B and/or that she had made changes it.

The allegations are subject to a Hearing before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and are as yet unproven.
