Warning: Email from 'Alexander Levy' misusing the name 'Cheshire Estate and Legal Limited'

Emails have been sent to a member of the public purporting to be from 'Alexander Levy' of 'Cheshire Estate and Legal Limited' offering to recover lost investment funds.

What is the scam?

Emails have been sent to a member of the public purporting to be from 'Alexander Levy' of 'Cheshire Estate and Legal Limited' from the email address 'Alexander.levi05@outlook.com'.

The emails offer to recover lost investment funds for the member of the public.

Any business or transaction by 'Alexander Levy' purporting to be from 'Cheshire Estate and Legal Limited' using the email address 'Alexander.levi05@outlook.com' is not undertaken by a solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called 'Cheshire Estate and Legal Limited' (SRA number 633955). Its head office is at 20 Chapel Street, Liverpool, L3 9AG. It uses the email domain '@celsolicitors.co.uk' to contact customers.

The genuine firm has confirmed that it does not have an employee with the name 'Alexander Levy', and that it has no connection to the above matter.

What should I do?
