An immigration application has been submitted misusing the names of Solicitors' Inn Ltd & Malik & Malik Ltd.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that an immigration application has been submitted, misusing the name and details of genuine firms (see below).

The application seen by the SRA provides the name of 'Ali Sagdi Marzi' (who also uses the alias of a genuine solicitor, [see below]) , an email address of 'alisagdi133@gmail.com' and a telephone contact number of '07459419035'.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor by the name of 'Ali Sagdi Marzi'.

Any business or transaction through the email address 'alisagdi133@gmail.com' or through the telephone contact number '07459419035' is not undertaken by a firm or solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Solicitors’ Inn Ltd. Its head office address is 188 The Grove, Stratford, London, E15 1NS. Solicitors’ Inn Ltd has confirmed that it has no connection to application referred to in the above alert.  

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Malik & Malik Ltd, trading as Malik and Malik Solicitors with the SRA number: 567666. Its head office address is 234-236 High Road, London, NW10 2NX. Malik & Malik Ltd has confirmed that it has no connection to the application referred to in the above alert.

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor by the name of Mohammed Asif Khan. The genuine Mohammed Asif Khan has confirmed that he has no connection to the application referred to in the above alert.  

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
