Warning: Emails regarding Trademarks misusing the names of genuine individuals purporting to be from 'HSS Legal Services Ltd'

Emails have been sent from 'HSS Legal Services Ltd’' purporting to be from a genuine law firm misusing the details and names of genuine law firms and genuine solicitors in connection with purported trademarking applications.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that emails have been sent to several recipients purporting to be from from HSS Legal Services Ltd.
The recipients of the emails have received multiple emails from individuals purporting to be genuine solicitors (see below) regarding trademarks applications which have been submitted to the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO). The correspondence invites the recipient to secure trademark registration of the company name and offers to assist with this process and if they do not follow the guidance and advise they could face legal consequences.
The correspondence has falsely purported to be from different supposed 'Intellectual Property Solicitors' at the firm. At the time of publication, the correspondence seen by the SRA misuses the names and SRA numbers of three different genuine solicitors (see below), although further names may be similarly misused in further correspondence. The correspondence seen so far was sent from the following email addresses:
- peter@notice.hsslegalservices.com
- fiona@tm.hsslegalservices.com
- martina@notice.hsslegalservices.com
The emails also provide a postal address of Norman Road, Huddersfield, HD2 2UE, England, a website address of 'hsslegalservices.com and a contact number of '+07482052010'.
Any business or transactions through the email address, postal address and web address mentioned above are not undertaken by any individual or firm authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called HSS Legal Services Ltd (Trading Name – HSS Legal Services) (SRA ID 8005182) who are located at 53 The Shop, Norman Road, Huddersfield, HD2 2UE. The genuine firm do not have a website or contact number.
HSS Legal Services Ltd have confirmed that they do not have any connection with the above matter.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine Solicitor called Peter Charles Edward Bullock with the SRA ID number 140580.
Peter Charles Edward Bullock has confirmed that he has no connection to the above matter.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine Solicitor called Fiona Guest with the SRA ID number 579248.
We believe that Fiona Guest has no connection to the above matter.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Martina Berry with the SRA ID number 7002021.
Martina Berry has confirmed that she has no connection to the above matter.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
