A website at 'www.europeanlawrecovery.net' is operating and misusing the name and address of a genuine firm of solicitors.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen a website at 'www.europeanlawrecovery.net' that is operating and misusing the name and head office address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see details below).

The website seen by the SRA purports to be for a firm by the name 'European Law Recovery Law Group' and states at the bottom of the website that it is 'authorized and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority'.

The website further provides the contact email address 'recovery@europeanlawrecovery.net' and the phone number + 39 024 507 930'.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm of solicitors called 'European Law Recovery Law Group'. 

Any business or transaction through the above website, phone number or email address, or through 'European Law Recovery Law Group' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Janes Solicitors LLP. The genuine head office address for the firm is Cording House, 34-35 St James Street, London, SW1A 1HD. The genuine website for the firm is 'www.janes-solicitors.co.uk'. Its genuine telephone number is 020 7930 5100 and its genuine email addresses use the domain name @Janes-solicitors.co.uk

The genuine firm of solicitors have confirmed that they have no genuine connection to the website or other details referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
