Warning: Invoice misusing the name of CND Law Ltd
15 January 2026
An invoice has been sent misusing the name of CND Law in relation to a 'classification fee' for trademark protection.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed emails have been sent from a 'Trademark Registration Department' to a member of the public using an email address of 'info@marksregistration.com'.
The emails seen by the SRA refer to the protection of trademark registration under UK intellectual property laws. They state that the applicant is seeking exclusive rights to this name, and as part of due diligence, the application has been reviewed to ensure compliance with the Trademarks Act 1994 and other relevant regulations.
One email provided an invoice from 'CND Law Firm' for 'classification fee'. Another of the emails was copied to the email address 'nick@cndlaw.com'
The SRA does not authorise and regulate a firm of solicitors called 'CND Law Firm' (see firm with similar name below).
Any business or transactions through 'info@marksregistration.com' or 'CND Law Firm' are not undertaken by a firm of solicitors authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called CND Law Ltd.
The genuine CND Law Ltd have confirmed they do not have any connection to 'CND Law Firm' nor to the emails or invoice referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
