Warning: Emails misusing the name of Andrew Jackson LLP

Emails have been sent misusing the name of Andrew Jackson LLP in relation to a supposed Copyright Infringement Notice.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen an email that has been sent purporting to be from 'Douglas J. Clark' on behalf of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below). The emails are in relation to a 'copyright infringement notice'.

Any business or transaction through the individual mentioned above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Andrew Jackson Solicitors LLP (SRA ID 636741). The Head Office address is Marina Court, Castle Street, Hull, HU1 1TJ. The genuine telephone number is 01482325242, and the genuine email domain is @andrewjackson.co.uk.

The genuine Andrew Jackson LLP has confirmed that it has no connection to the email referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means.
