A website was operating and misusing the name and details of Farrer and Co LLP and the names and images SRA regulated individuals.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that a website was operating and misusing the name and address of a genuine firm, and the names and/or images of genuine solicitors (see details below).

The SRA is informed that the website address is www.farrerslf.com. The website has since been taken down.

The website provides the names of several solicitors who work at the genuine firm referred to above, including the image of an SRA regulated individual employed at another genuine firm (see below)

Any business or transactions through the website address www.farrerslf.com is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm called Farrer and Co LLP (SRA number 447822). The firm has confirmed they are not involved or associated with the website address listed in the above alert.

The SRA also authorises and regulates the solicitors listed below:

The individuals referred to above have confirmed that they have no involvement or connection to the website listed above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
