Application for UK lawyers agreed exemptions (Intra-UK)
Updated 21 May 2021
Who can apply
UK qualified lawyers who want to apply for the agreed Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) assessments exemptions given to their qualification.
If you are a solicitor qualified in Scotland, you are exempted from sitting the SQE2 assessment. Please use this form to apply for this exemption.
You can also apply for further SQE1 assessments exemptions.
Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland Solicitors
Solicitors of Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland are exempt from the SQE assessments. You do not need to apply for these exemptions.
Other UK qualified lawyers
There are no agreed exemptions for any other UK qualified lawyers. Instead, you will need to apply for new exemptions from one or both SQE1 assessments and all the SQE2 assessment based on your other qualifications and experience.
There is no fee for this application.
