Verifying your identity when logging in

Each time you log into mySRA, you must verify your identity using an authenticator app. This helps protect your account, your data and reduces the risk of identity theft.

You will need to:

  • enter your username and password
  • open your authenticator app to get a six-digit code
  • enter the code to complete your sign-in.

The code refreshes every 30 seconds, so you will need to enter it before it expires.

Already have an authenticator app?

Check your mobile device first. You may already have an authenticator app from the last time you used mySRA, for example when renewing your practising certificate.

Look for an app such as:

  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • Google Authenticator.

If you already have one, you may not need to download another app. Make sure it is still installed and working before you try to log in.

If you no longer have your mobile device, need to change your app or need further help, please contact us.

If you do not have an app, here is what you need to do to get one.

1. Download an authenticator app

You only need to set up your mobile device once. Please use your personal smartphone or tablet so you will always have access to it.

You do not need to pay for an authenticator app. We suggest downloading either:

2. Log in to mySRA

Enter your username and password.

3. Scan the QR code

Using your authenticator app, scan the QR code to enrol your device. Please use the scanning feature inside the authenticator app itself – not your phone's camera or a generic QR scanner. If prompted, allow the authenticator app permission to access your camera so it can scan the QR code.

Once enrolled, your mySRA account will appear as 'The Solicitors Regulation Authority' in the app and will generate a six-digit code.

You can then select continue.

4. Enter the code

The code refreshes every 30 seconds, so you will need to enter it before it expires.

Do not delete the app after setting it up as you will need it to get a six-digit code every time you log in to mySRA.
