Warning: Correspondences misusing the name of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP

Correspondences were made by an individual purporting to be Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in relation to business transactions.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that correspondences falsely claiming to be from Amy Mahon at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP were made, regarding an acquisition transaction. The WhatsApp messages and telephone calls have used Ms Mahon's image and name.
The emails that were sent using the email domain of '@stblawfirm.co.uk. The emails falsely claimed to be from Amy Mahon.
Any business or transactions through the email domain of '@stblawfirm.co.uk' and telephone number of +1(904) 200 5031 is not undertaken by a solicitors' practice or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is a genuine law firm authorised and regulated by the SRA. Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP (trading as Simpson Thacher) uses a domain name of '@stblaw.com'. The genuine firm's website is 'www.stblaw.com'.
Ms Amy Mahon is a genuine individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
