The SRA has been advised that correspondence has been sent misusing the name of 'Alex Reed' of 'Lawyer-Group'.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been advised that members of the public have been contacted by an individual claiming to be 'Alex Reed' of 'Lawyer-Group'.
The SRA has been advised that the contact details used are 'alex.reed@lawyer-group.net' and the telephone number '+442033182729' and they are claiming that 'Alex Reed' is connected to 'Lawyer-Group'.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm called 'Lawyer-Group'.
Any business or transaction through the above contact details is not undertaken by an individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Alexander Reed.
The genuine Alexander Reed has confirmed he has no connection to the correspondence referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.

The SRA has been advised that a member of the public has been contacted by an individual claiming to be ''Ian Steele” of 'Lawyer-Group'.
The SRA has been advised that the contact details used are ian.steele@lawyer-group.net, the telephone number '+44 203 3182 729' and website www.ilg-online.org
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm called 'Lawyer-Group' or ILG International Lawyers Group. The SRA does not authorise or regulate an individual named Ian Steele of 'Lawyer-Group'
