Warning: Emails misusing the name of Karen Sanderson of Bradshaw Trees Law Limited

Emails have been sent misusing the email address of Karen Sanderson of Bradshaw Trees Law Limited.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been advised that an email has been sent misusing the name of a genuine solicitor (see below). The email appears to be sent from the email address of a genuine solicitor (see below).

The email provides a Docusign link and requests the recipient open the link and place an electronic signature on the document. There is a concern that the link may contain malware.

The SRA has been informed that the email has been sent to approximately 1500 people globally and was sent in November 2023.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm called Bradshaw Trees Law which operates the domain name 'bradshawtrees.co.uk'.

The SRA authorises a genuine solicitor called Karen Sanderson who is a Partner at Bradshaw Trees. Her email address is 'karen@bradshawtrees.co.uk'.

Ms. Sanderson and Bradshaw Trees Law have confirmed that they do not have any genuine or intended connection with the emails referred to in the alert above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
