An active Facebook page is misusing the name of London Family Solicitor Limited

What is the scam?

A Facebook page is operating at https://en-gb.facebook.com/people/Solicitor-Ahmed/pfbid02jdAndbLhsBGiXMd7i61YVmddNqnepzc1uwFdFFZCc6ZZzdEPdapMkSz7AgH2UHs1l/ for an individual called 'Solicitor Ahmed' claiming to be a Solicitor at 'London Family Solicitor'.

The SRA understands that a member of the public was approached by this individual and a fee was requested for a consultation at '105 Regency Street London SW1P 4EF', another member of the public has been charged a fee for a supposed immigration appeal.

The page misuses the name of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

Any business or transaction through the Facebook page above is not undertaken by a solicitor's practice authorised and regulated by the SRA, or by an individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called London Family Solicitor Limited trading as London Family Solicitor. The genuine firm is based at Central Point 45 Beech Street London EC2Y 8AD.

The genuine London Family Solicitor Limited have confirmed that they do not have any connection to the Facebook page referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
