Telephone calls have been made misusing the name of Wealth Recovery Solicitors Limited.

What is the scam?

Telephone calls have been made misusing the name of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below) regarding the recovery of funds. We understand that the recipient was asked to provide details of their personal bank accounts.

We understand that the telephone calls have been made from the telephone number '020 3837 9656' and the recipient is provided names of Lisa Thompson (see below) and 'Tessa White'.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor by the name of 'Tessa White'.

Any business or transaction through the telephone number '020 3837 9656' is not undertaken by a firm or solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a firm of solicitors called Wealth Recovery Solicitors Limited. The firm's genuine telephone number is 0203 695 9239.

The genuine firm of Wealth Recovery Solicitors Limited has confirmed that it has no connection to the above matter.

The SRA authorises and regulates a solicitor called Lisa Ellen Thompson who has confirmed that she has no connection to the above matter.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
