Warning: Emails and website misusing the names of Cross Legal Services Ltd and Isabella Dunk

Emails have been sent and a website is operating misusing the names of Cross Legal Services Ltd and Isabella Dunk.

What is the scam?

Emails have been sent misusing the name of a genuine solicitor and firm of solicitors (see below).

A website at 'www.crosslegalservice.com' is also operating misusing the name of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

The emails are in relation to a supposed 'Trademark Registration Opportunity for your Business name and Logo'. The emails were sent from 'isabella@notice.crosslegalservice.com' and misuse the name and address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below). The emails also misuse the name and SRA number of a genuine solicitor.

The emails and the website provide a telephone number of '+44 7877406737'. The website provides an email address of 'info@crosslegalservice.com'.

Any business or transaction through the email addresses 'isabella@notice.crosslegalservice.com' and 'info@crosslegalservice.com', the website 'www.crosslegalservice.com' or the telephone number '+44 7877406737' are not undertaken by any individual or firm authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Cross Legal Services Ltd. The firm's address is Ludgate House, 107-111 Fleet Street, London, EC4A 2AB. Emails from the genuine firm use the domain '@crosslegalservices.com' (note the 's' after the word 'service').

The SRA also regulates a genuine solicitor called Isabella Leonora Stewart Dunk. The SRA number for the genuine solicitor is 7050775.

The genuine firm and the genuine solicitor have confirmed they have no connection to the website or emails referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.

The SRA has been advised that further correspondence has been sent in relation to the above matter, misusing the name and SRA number of another genuine solicitor (see below). The emails seen by the SRA have been sent from the email addresses 'paul@notice.crosslegalservice.co' and 'paul@notice.crosslegalservice.com' and provide the same telephone number ('07877406737') and the website address ('www.crosslegalservice.com') as above, as well as the website address 'www.crosslegalservice.co'.

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Paul David Arnold. The SRA number for Paul Arnold is 397001. Paul Arnold has confirmed that he has no connection to the correspondence referred to above.

The SRA has seen further emails that have been sent in respect of the above matter, misusing the name and SRA number of another genuine solicitor (please see genuine details below).

The emails seen by the SRA have been sent from the email addresses 'eva@tm.crosslegalservice.co' and 'eva@tm.crosslegalservice.com'. The emails provide the telephone number '+44 7877 406 737' and the website addresses 'www.crosslegalservices.co' and 'www.crosslegalservice.com'.

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Eva Marisa McDowall. The SRA number for Eva McDowall is 343502. Eva McDowall has confirmed that she has no connection to the correspondence referred to above.
