Warning: Lease agreement misusing the name of MH Solicitors LLP

Several letters regarding lease agreements have been sent to an energy supplier misusing the name of MH Solicitors LLP.
What is the scam?
The SRA has seen several letters sent to an energy supplier purporting to be from 'Viqar Bhatti' of 'MH Solicitors LLP'. The letters use the genuine firm's name of 'MH Solicitors LLP' (see below) their letterhead and quote genuine firm office addresses '166 Dunstall Road, Wolverhampton, WV6 0NU', 'Winton House, Stoke Road, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 2RW' and '192 Newhampton Road East, Wolverhampton, WV1 4BB'. The letters also quote the genuine firm email address 'info@mhsolicitors' and website address 'www.mhsolicitors.com'.
The SRA does not regulate a genuine solicitor with the name Viqar Bhatti.
Any business or transaction through the documents described above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called MH Solicitors LLP (SRA number 637433).
Faisal Qureshi who is a solicitor and partner at MH Solicitors LLP has confirmed that it has no connection to the documents referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
