Warning: Email from 'Jett Collins' misusing the SRA number of West London Solicitors Limited

An email has been sent purporting to be from a genuine firm of solicitors misusing the SRA number of West London Solicitors Limited.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen an email sent purporting to be from a genuine firm of solicitors misusing the SRA number of a genuine firm (see genuine details below) in relation to recovering funds previously lost in a scam.

The email was purportedly sent by 'Jett Collins' who claims to be a 'case manager' at 'London Blockchain Solicitors'.

The email was sent from the email address: Jett_CollinsS@outlook.com. The following telephone numbers are also listed in the email: +44 (0)20 7946 0800 and +44 (208) 073 - 4660.

The website address https://londonblockchainsolicitors.co.uk/ is also listed in the email.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate any individual with the name 'Jett Collins' or a firm with the name 'London Blockchain Solicitors'.

Any business or transaction through the individual, firm, email address, telephone numbers and bogus website referred to in the scam alert above is not undertaken by any firm or solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm called West London Solicitors Limited with the SRA number 569964.

West London Solicitors Limited has confirmed they have no connection to 'Jett Collins' or the contact details listed above.

The firms genuine email domain is @westlondonsolicitors.com and genuine telephone number is 02085711001. The genuine website is www.westlondonsolicitors.com

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.

The SRA has seen a further email sent to a member of the public misusing the name and SRA number of a genuine firm of solicitors, as described above (see genuine firm details above).

The email was purportedly sent by 'Frederick Mercer' from the email address 'info@londonblockchainsolicitors.co.uk'.

As with the original alert above, the email lists the telephone numbers '+44 (0)20 7946 0800' and '+44 (208) 073 – 4660'. It also refers to the website 'https://londonblockchainsolicitors.co.uk/',

The SRA does not authorise or regulate an individual named 'Frederick Mercer'.

Any business or transactions through the above individual, email address, telephone numbers or website are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

The genuine firm of West London Solicitors Limited has confirmed they have no connection to 'Frederick Mercer' or the contact details listed above.

The SRA has seen a further email sent to a member of the public misusing the SRA number of a genuine firm of solicitors, as described above (see genuine firm details above).

The email was purportedly sent by 'Emily Collins' from 'London Blockchain Solicitors'. The email contains a link to the SRA register for the genuine firm of solicitors.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate an individual named 'Emily Collins'.

Any business or transactions through the above individual are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

The genuine firm of West London Solicitors Limited has confirmed they have no connection to 'Emily Collins' or 'London Blockchain Solicitors'.
