Business card misusing the name Lanyon Bowdler LLP.

What is the scam?

A member of the public has been sent a business card in the name of 'Caleb Powell', purporting to be a solicitor at a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

It includes the following contact details:

  • Telephone: +44 7432 012795
  • Email: Calebpowell@lanyanbowdler.co.uk

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor called 'Caleb Powell'.

Any business or transaction using the above details is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Lanyon Bowdler LLP (SRA ID 534828). The genuine telephone number is 01743280280 and the genuine email domain is @lblaw.co.uk.

The genuine firm Lanyon Bowdler LLP has confirmed that it does not employ a solicitor called 'Caleb Powell' and the firm has no genuine connection to the business card referred to in the above alert.
