A letter has been sent to a company misusing the name and letterhead of the genuine firm of solicitors Blaser Mills LLP.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that correspondence has been sent to a member of the public purporting to be from Jane Hannaway of Blaser Mills LLP (see genuine details below).
The letter seen by the SRA misuses the letterhead of the genuine firm of solicitors and the firm's genuine name, branch office address, and website address. The contents of the letter are in relation to a client verification.
Any business or transaction through the letter described above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Blaser Mills LLP (SRA ID: 620391). The genuine firm's head office address is Liston Exchange, Cromwell Gardens, Marlow, SL7 1BG and the contact number for their head office is '0203 814 2020'. The firm's website address is 'www.blasermills.co.uk'.
The genuine firm of solicitors have confirmed that they nor Jane Hannaway have no connection to the letter referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.

The SRA has been notified of further correspondence that was sent to an energy company purporting to be from Blaser Mills LLP (genuine firm of solicitors as detailed in the alert above).
The letter seen by the SRA relates to a change of tenancy agreement and misuses the genuine firm's name, letterhead and branch office address.
The letter is signed by an individual called 'Khalid Salim' who is claiming to be a partner at the genuine firm of solicitors.
Any business or transaction through the letter or individual described above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
The genuine firm of solicitors has confirmed that 'Khalid Salim' is not an employee, and it has no connection with this individual or the letter referred to above.
