An email has been sent misusing the name of Clarke Willmott LLP in relation to locating potential beneficiaries for an estate matter and requesting fees.
What is the scam?
An email has been sent misusing the name of a genuine firm (see below for details) in relation to locating potential beneficiaries for an estate matter and requesting fees.
The email was sent from the email address 'straightgo384@gmail.com' and provided an estate asset transfer agreement.
Any business or transaction through the email address 'straightgo384@gmail.com' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Clarke Willmott LLP (SRA ID 510689). The genuine firm uses the email domain @clarkewillmott.com. The genuine firm's head office is Burlington House, Grange Drive, Hedge End, Southampton, SO30 2AF and their genuine telephone number is 0345 209 1000.
The genuine firm of Clarke Willmott LLP has confirmed that they have no connection to the emails referred to in the alert above.
What should I do?
