Warning: WhatsApp, TikTok and Facebook account misusing the name of Eni Okpo Ojah

A WhatsApp, TikTok and Facebook social media account has been set up misusing the name of Eni Ojah.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that a WhatsApp, TikTok and Facebook account has been created purporting to be a genuine SRA registered foreign lawyer (see below).

The individual is purporting to be a ‘qualified lawyer' who can assist with immigration matters.

We have been informed that the username associated with the TikTok and Facebook account is 'Eni Ojah Esq' and the following number '+44 7462 786053' is linked to the WhatsApp account.

Any business or transactions through the above social media accounts are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine registered foreign lawyer with the name Eni Okpo Ojah (SRA ID 834794).

Eni Okpo Ojah has confirmed that they do not have any connection to the above social media accounts or messaged exchanged.

Eni Okpo Ojah has confirmed that they do have a genuine TikTok and WhatsApp account. They have informed us that the genuine username associated with the TikTok account is '@eniojahesq' and the following number '07463568920' is linked to the WhatsApp account.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
