A website is operating and misusing the names of a genuine law firm and a genuine solicitor.

What is the scam?

A website www.jeppassociates.uk is operating misusing the names of a genuine firm of solicitors and a genuine solicitor (see below).

The website also misuses the image of a genuine solicitor and director at the firm and the genuine postal address for the firm (see below).

The website provides the email address 'info@jeppassociates.uk' which is not a genuine email address for the firm.

Any business or transaction through the above website and email address is not undertaken by any firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Jepp Associates Limited (SRA number 8013324) whose address is 260 Dewsbury Road, Wakefield, WF2 9BY. Jepp Associates Limited has confirmed that it does not currently have a website or email address.

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Catherine Baines (SRA ID 356477) who is a Director at Jepp Associates Limited.

The genuine firm and genuine solicitor have confirmed that they have no connection to the website referred to in the alert above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means.
